This OCR race is not just about you and your dog, it’s much more about how you can cooperate as a team. HDR is more than a race – it’s a lifestyle, an unforgettable experience which forges a true pack-like bond between the dog and its owner.

The Founder’s personal thoughts
HDR was a dream. However, I never once doubted it’d become a reality one day. I believed in it, I wanted it. That alone would not have been enough to make HDR what it is today, though. From the start, I’ve received a lot of help and support from the team and my friends. This provided a basis for the beginning, but without you, the racers, the dream would have ended up as an empty track. You make HDR into what it is. You are the ones who give it life. Your personal experiences and stories are what provide our slogan with meaning: Six legs, two hearts, one victory. Thank you!
The story of HDR
András serves in Afghanistan in 43°C. Climbing on trucks with his dog gives him inspiration:
“This is so stupid. I should turn this into a racing event.”
András at the finish line of an OCR race:
“That was fun, but where’s my dog? There needs to be a race like this.”
Brainstorming starts
While listening to rock music, the brand name
HARD DOG RACE is created
After a long run, the HDR slogan is created: Six legs, two hearts, one victory.
JUNE: The first closed test race is organised.
OCTOBER 1ST: THE VERY FIRST HDR RACE Summer weather,
180 enthusiastic participants, the track is barely constructed but the first runners start off, rock & roll.
The 6 km event is named BASE, and the first 12 km WILD race is organised. This year marks our first foreign event – a Base race in Poland – which can be best characterised with the phrase “raining cats and dogs”. THE FIRST HDR PACK IS FOUNDED
THE FIRST CZECH HDR BASE event held at our most beautiful tracks to date. The idea for a muddy, wet race is formed but without a name at this point.
The first NOT JUST RUN event is held, the charity run of HDR which aims to support a worthy cause each year. The FIRST GERMAN HDR BASE race is organised. There was no cellphone reception, it was cold and windy and had a great atmosphere. The wet and muddy race gets a name and a logo: MUD DOG RACE
We are also hampered by the pandemic, unfortunately we had to cancel events, but we use the time to strengthen and develop HDR’s ONLINE presence. We start an online racing challenge which is completed by hundreds of HDR racers in every country.
We create the QUARANTINE WITH SIX LEGS Facebook group and the IT’S A DOG’S LIFE podcast. The Halloween edition of NOT JUST RUN proves a great success, which inspires us to create our new event: RUNOWEEN.
– We had two competitions in Vácduka: a Base (here slogan “nine is the new six” was born) and a Not Just Run / Runoween
– Czech Base – new trail, new slopes… the beautiful ski resort: Kralicak
– Polish Base – we had a new trail here too: a lake, a small stream and some water and mud and more water… Wawrzkowizna
– We organized a WILD race again in Hungary, Eplény for the first time since 2019: an uphill right after the lake and a dark tunnel…
– With the Base race in Hungary, we returned to the legendary Piliscsév motocross trail – #lafótaris (a wordplay meaning skiing on the motocross track).
– Czech Base – Kralicak again but a new trail and ancient mountains.
– Polish Base – for the first time we had 2 races in Poland, one in the north, one in the south. Lakes were everywhere…
